This East Dennis restoration showcases Mullen Building’s expertise in historic renovations, where structural complexity, regulatory requirements, and meticulous craftsmanship come together to preserve the past while enhancing the home for future generations.

Two thoughtfully designed additions were constructed, each detailed to appear as though they had always been part of the original home. When working on historic properties, Mullen Building prioritizes a seamless transition between old and new—ensuring it is impossible to tell where the original structure ends and the additions begin.

The project required coordination with Old King’s Highway for historic approvals prior to obtaining a building permit, adding an additional layer of planning and review. Mullen Building worked closely with Torrey Architecture, whose attention to historic detail and proportion was essential to the success of the design.

To maintain authenticity, exterior trim was custom milled to exactly match the existing profiles. Original elements, including newel posts and other salvaged materials, were carefully preserved and reincorporated into the new spaces, reinforcing continuity throughout the home.
