 [Remodeling](https://mullenbuilding.com/services/remodels)# Hyannis Port Cottage

Hyannisport, MA

1,364 S.f.

What began as a remodel of this 4-bedroom, 3-bath, cottage changed direction early in [pre-construction](https://mullenbuilding.com/services/pre-construction), when we found the existing foundation structurally compromised. Rather than build a new home on a footing that couldn't support it, Mullen recommended a full teardown and rebuild, giving the homeowners a clean start instead of a renovation with a compromised base.

Working with Michael Jimerson Architecture & Interiors, the team rebuilt the cottage with a modern coastal aesthetic, pairing classic Cape Cod styling with clean-lined interior finishes throughout.

The kitchen centers on a custom island in a soft coastal blue, paired with white shaker cabinetry, quartz countertops, a professional-style range with a stainless hood, and a patterned cement tile backsplash. White oak hardwood floors run throughout the main living areas, and a stone-clad gas fireplace anchors the living room.

The rebuild also gave the homeowners more livable square footage than the original structure offered. Mullen finished the lower level to add a second full bathroom, a dedicated laundry room, and additional living space, with the same tile and glass-shower detailing carried through the upstairs baths.

Completed in 2026, this Hyannis Port Cottage project shows what's possible when a builder catches a structural issue before it becomes the client's problem. [Mullen's pre-construction process](https://mullenbuilding.com/services/pre-construction) exists to find issues like this early, when there's still time to change course.
